"Redface" CD Label

Used by Polydor, RSO, Carrere, E'G

This design, with black text on a red background, was used for early pressings on Polydor and related labels. Notably, it appeared on early pressings of the first commercially-released CD in Europe, Abba's The Visitors.

While some counterexamples may exist, virtually all early redface pressings share two common attributes: a box at 3:00 subdivided into quadrants with "GEMA", the catalog number, "STEREO" and "Made in West Germany"; and a boxed "Compact Disc Digital Audio" logo at 9:00.

Blueface

Some redface titles were simultaneously released in France as bluefaces. These were often from the same pressing, just with different labels printed on them.
